Aorangi Veterinary Services – Where Careers Thrive and Community Matters
We’re a dynamic, independent mixed practice based in the heart of South Canterbury, with branches in Geraldine, Fairlie, and Timaru. Our team provides high-quality care across companion animals and dairy, sheep, beef, and deer farms - offering our staff diverse, rewarding, and varied career opportunities.
Our vets and vet techs are experienced, progressive, and supported by the latest tools and technology. Preventative medicine and consultancy services are key focuses, and we’re proud to work with a loyal, proactive client base. Our Highfield clinic in Timaru is BESTPRACTICE® accredited and features a fully equipped small animal surgical suite. Our small animal team brings a wealth of knowledge, backed by an outstanding group of nurses and support staff.
We believe in ongoing learning and career development. Alongside paid CPD - including courses, conferences, and external training - we run regular in-house education sessions and vet team meetings. These are not only a chance to stay up to date, but also a great way to share knowledge, connect over a meal, and have a laugh together.
At Aorangi Vets, we work hard and play hard. Our active social committee ensures there’s always something fun on the calendar. And because we know veterinary work can be challenging, our wellness committee is here to support the wellbeing of every team member.
We’re proudly independent - not a corporate - and owned by six local vets who live, work, and lead within our practice. Our leadership is open, supportive, and people-focused, creating a friendly, family-oriented workplace that’s thrived for nearly 47 years. Today, our team includes more than 40 amazing individuals. Many of our senior staff began as new grads and have grown into leadership roles with us.
South Canterbury is an incredible place to call home. You get the best of rural and small-town New Zealand, with the outdoors on your doorstep and city life within reach. At Aorangi Vets, we value work-life balance, strong community ties, and a team culture where happiness and collaboration are just as important as clinical excellence.
